Kim Seybert

Not so very long ago, style for the home was a largely unexplored territory. Tabletop accessories were often extremely traditional, or pulled out only for the most special occasions. Kim Seybert launched a fresh perspective into this world by introducing her refined fashion sensibility and a love of rich color and texture. Combining her personal philosophy and extensive design experience, she created a supremely stylish collection for modern living.

As a successful designer working on Seventh Avenue, Kim's specialty was beaded and embroidered dresses and evening wear. In 1998, Kim redecorated her apartment, reinvigorating her creative energy and enthusiasm for design. She decided to take this expertise and her lifelong passion for fashion and translate them into a collection of similarly embellished coasters, placemats and pillows. Kim's established production contacts in places like India and China allowed her to work with indigenous craftspeople and their specialized techniques, such as hand-knotting, hand-blown glass and intricate embroidery. The resulting designs are a unique blend of true sophistication and a sense of fun; whimsical ideas are flawlessly executed in high-quality materials.

Kim's fashion background is evident in her designs, which are produced in seasonal collections that often reflect trends in ready-to-wear. Dressmaker details abound, such as the graceful bias cut of her silk organza napkins. Kim's love of nature comes through in the use of organic elements such as raffia, shells, rock crystal, bamboo, coral and wood. It's a personal vision she interprets in a variety of ways, from funky screen-printed linen napkins and shimmery capiz shell placemats to beaded runners in the shape of marine creatures.
